The new monarchs paved the way for a more profitable future for the most powerful countries in Europe. Nascent countries like Spain, France, and England took advantage of their new monarchs, eventually becoming the powerful world powers they are today. Key elements of a new monarch include limiting the power of the nobles, increasing economic prosperity, unifying their nation, and stabilizing their military. Monarchs Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, King Louis XI of France, and King Henry VII of England are prime examples of new monarchs. The new monarchs greatly strengthened their nations, in more ways than one. Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain formed the duo of monarchs of the new Spanish nation, united by their families' lands of Argon and Castile. Ferdinand of Argon, son of John II of Argon, came to power thanks to his marriage to Isabella of Castile. Isabella of Castile was the daughter of King John I of Castile. After the death of King John I, his older brother was the next heir in my line, King Henry IV. When the nobles deemed King Henry IV unfit to rule, he was pushed aside to let his younger half-brother Alfonso take the throne. Fortunately, at least for Isabella, Alfonso died soon after of the plague and had named her his successor in his will. This king and queen first brought their people together by completing the Reconquista, the expulsion of people practicing Islam and Judaism, to unify their nation under the Roman Catholic religion. Although this couple's greatest achievement was their funding of Christopher Columbus who eventually found the New World. Ultimately, he stabilized the nation by settling the civil wars, the Wars of the Roses, by marrying the neighboring York family, to unite the two rival families, the Yorks and the Lancasters. Overall, King Henry VII is a new monarch who exhibits all the required traits. New monarchs are seen as the first stepping stone to creating great nations. These new monarchs displayed the characteristics of limiting the power of the nobles, increasing economic prosperity, uniting their nation, and stabilizing their military. Nations like Spain, France, and England have had new monarchs in their history, including Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain, King Louis XI of France, and King Henry VII of England. Overall, without the strengthening of these new monarchs, the corruption of their successors would have been detrimental to the process of improvement of these nations..
