Essay / The Power of the Human Brain - 854
IntroductionHumans are considered the highest form of living beings on earth. This is not attributed to the human body being strong or agile, as there are many animals that possess strength and agility far beyond the imagination of humans. The main feature that distinguishes humans from all other organisms is the brain. The brain is the powerhouse of the body. However, it is also the site of the mind. The spirit is said to give humans a higher status than other creatures. Thanks to this important characteristic, humans have the ability to reason, feel and adapt. Man has traveled many miles beyond the capabilities of any other living being and there are still many feats to be achieved. Structure of the Brain The brain has three main parts, the cerebrum, the cerebellum and the brainstem. The brain is divided into regions that control specific functionsThe brain is the largest part of the brain, it controls certain functions such as perception, imagination, thinking, judgment and decision making. The surface of the brain (cerebral cortex) is composed of six thin layers of neurons, which lie on a large surface of white matter pathways. The cortex is extremely twisted and coiled to the point that if spread out it could actually occupy up to 2.5 square feet and includes 10 billion neurons and approximately 50 trillion synapses. The farthest part is the frontal lobe and is very important because its responsibility consists of voluntary movements and planning is considered the most important work for personality and intelligence. Behind the frontal lobe is the parietal lobe, which includes the somatosensory area which happens to be just..... . middle of paper......basic tasks. It is more common in older people. Alzheimer's disease is named after Dr. Alois Alzheimer in 1906 who noticed changes in the brain tissue of a woman who died of mental illness. Scientists have not understood what causes Alzheimer's disease, but it is clear that it develops because of a complex series of events that occur in the brain over an accumulated period of time. Alzheimer's disease is complex and there is no evidence of a way to delay, prevent or cure it. Although medications like rivastigime, galantamine, and Donepezil are used to treat mild and early stages of Alzheimer's disease, there are also medications to treat specific symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, such as drowsiness, restlessness. , wandering and depression
