Essay / The Forgotten War: The War of 1812 - 1185
The Forgotten War, a war that would soon be forgotten, almost by everyone involved. The War of 1812, a war that lasted two years. A small conflict between Americans and Great Britain soon involving natives and Canadian settlers. Although so many remarkable things happened during the war, Americans and British don't really remember some of the small details of the war. Although the war began in 1812, some of the causes of the development occurred years before war was even considered. By 1807, the British Bar Council had put a damper on American trade, leading to embargo acts, agreements, and policies designed to ruin and anger Americans over trade. One of the main reasons for the war was the Chesapeake Incident in 1807. The British had started practicing. They essentially saw themselves as the center of the universe and believed that they should be the ones to be proudly praised by everyone. America was showing that it did not need the British to be independent. America was very focused on business goals, so it wanted to do everything it could to make it work, even if it meant starting a war. The need to expand is in the blood of both sides and if it meant war, they would surely go to war. Although America lost many battles in the War of 1812, we did not give up once and we fought until we got what we wanted, as Madison said. It's hard to believe that so many remarkable things happened in the War of 1812, but we don't talk about it as a huge war. When the war began and ended, the war was then known as "the Second American Independence", so why don't we still remember it? The question still floats. The Forgotten War should not be forgotten, it should not be seen as another war, we as Americans should believe that the War of 1812 was "America's Second War ยป.
