Recent technological advancements have had a huge impact on today's criminal justice system. These new developments have made it easier for those in the field to track down criminals and helped provide better evidence to support their cases. Things like fingerprint databases, DNA testing, GPS tracking, and more have made it easier for prosecutors or defendants to prove their case in court. This is very beneficial because thanks to this new wave of technology, officials are now able to provide more reliable and credible evidence in court. This current technological boom will benefit many people in the field. People such as law enforcement, falsely accused criminals, prosecutors, defendants, judges, the list goes on and on. Technology has had a major impact on the criminal justice system, it is now easier to track and arrest criminals and ensure that evidence given in court is more reliable and credible. New types of technology have made the task easier. to track down and arrest criminals. It also made it easier for prosecutors to collect and present more credible information. Some new technologies that have made it easier to track down criminals or helped provide more reliable and supporting evidence are things like DNA testing, computer technology, fingerprinting, and GPS tracking devices. “The greatest strengths of technology in the criminal justice system lie in the provision of databases that enable better and more efficient storage and retrieval of records” (Bean 370). Prosecutors now have “an infallible test of truth, an infallible method for determining the accuracy and reliability of evidence and therefore convictions” (Pallaras 72).
