Cloud formations have always been observed by man, several centuries before our era. People have always loved clouds. They always wondered why some clouds were dark and others white and fluffy, and why some clouds were so high and others so low that they seemed accessible to human hands. The most recent classification of clouds was made by the World Meteorological Organization. in 1956. This organization lists 10 fundamental types of clouds that are subdivided into species based on their exterior shape and internal structure. Additionally, varieties of clouds are discussed according to their arrangement and transparency. There is a classification of heights called high, medium and low altitudes. The different types of clouds are found in these three divisions depending on the altitude of the clouds. First, we have the high clouds which range in altitude from 16,500 to 45,000 feet. In this division we have cirrus clouds, cirrocumulus clouds and cirrostratus clouds. A cirrus cloud appears as delicate, feather-like bands that are not attached to each other and are usually white without shadow. Cirrocumulus clouds look like very small round balls or flakes. Cirrocumulus clouds sometimes form a buttermilk sky pattern. Cirrostratus trees sometimes form tangled webs or thin whitish leaves.
