    Stanley demands that Mitch return to the poker game when he first speaks to Blanche could suggest that Stanley does not want the two to interact and would go - go to any lengths to sabotage them. Additionally, Stanley also begins to delve into Blanche's past, particularly when he brings up a man named Shaw who claims to have met Blanche "...at a hotel called the Flamingo" (Williams 89). Although this speculation is denied by Blanche, further investigation into her past could result in the discovery of incriminating information, thus leading to sabotage on Stanley's part. 3. How could we find out the truth/reality of Stanley and Stella's relationship during the poker game? How are we supposed to understand Stella's motivation to be/stay with Stanley, despite his physical violence? (i.e. what is their relationship based/founded/maintained on)? How does discovering these things affect Blanche and Stella's relationship, and why is it important? During the confrontation during the poker game, which immediately ends it, readers are exposed to the reality of Stella and Stanley.
