Essay / Amelia Earhart - 1728
Many people in history have encouraged people today to do many different things. Amelia Earhart is the one who encourages women more than anything. Amelia Earhart broke numerous flying records, first woman to cross the Atlantic on horseback, first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, first woman to fly from Hawaii to California, first woman to fly across America and many more others. She showed people that if you put your mind to something, you can do anything. Even if something seemed scary, Amelia was up for the challenge. Amelia knew that flying was considered very dangerous for women, but she wasn't going to let that stop her. If she wanted to fly, she would fly.Amelia Mary Earhart was born on July 24, 1897, in her grandparents' large, beautiful home in Atchison, Kansas. She was Amy and Edwin Earhart, the first of two children. Amelia's little sister arrived two years later, her name was Muriel Grace Earhart. The sisters lived with their grandparents during the school year, as Edwin's job required him to travel a lot. Amelia and Muriel had a very close relationship. Both girls loved playing outside and doing what the “boys” did. Amélia and Muriel were going on an “adventure” to their grandfather’s barn. There was an old carriage in the barn, in which the girls went to many faraway places without ever leaving the barn. Throughout her childhood, Amelia was never one to be super girly. Since her parents didn't really believe in keeping a girl home all day, they let her play outside and do pretty much whatever she wanted. Amelia especially loved sledding. While sledding, the girls sat upright in their sled, while the boys did a “flat stomach.” Amelia loved the boy's sledding method so much that her father... middle of paper... admitted and she always wanted to be the "first" to do something else. George quickly helped Amelia plan another one. The couple spoke to the government of Mexico and obtained permission to fly into the country. Amelia started planning a flight to Mexico. Soon the day of the flight arrived from Oakland California and was on its way to Mexico. Mexico. Somewhere near Mexico, Amelia veered slightly off course, so she decided to go ahead and land. It turns out that Amelia has landed in a small village a few miles from Mexico City. When she landed, her plane was surrounded by cowboys and cattle. , goats, chickens and a few villagers. The plane was a really cool sight for all the people and animals. Amelia then took off and flew a few miles to Mexico City. In Mexico City, Amelia met with the President of Mexico. There was also a very big party for his arrival..
