    The Elizabethan era is the famous period in history marked by the reign of Queen Elizabeth (1558-1603). This period is described as the golden period of English history because the state had never been so prosperous before. England expanded and became more healthy and optimistic than ever before, so this period could be called a renaissance that inspired the nation and brought its uplift. This age is therefore of great importance. Under the leadership and reign of Queen Elizabeth, the prosperity of the nation increased and patriotism brought a romantic spirit, youthful freshness and themes of love to the field of literature. It is therefore considered one of the splendid eras of English literature. Elizabeth herself was a great writer. and she wrote poetry and speeches and likewise, there was a great flourishing in the field of literature at that time, especially poetry and drama. There were great writers during this time, Thomas Kyd, Christopher Marlowe, William Shakespeare, John Donne to name a few. However, when we talk about the drama of the Elizabethan era, Shakespeare stands out from the rest of the poets and playwrights. He marked his name as one of the greatest playwrights because he was incredibly versatile. He surpassed many other professional playwrights of that era and stood out for his great literary works. Likewise, the Jacobean era was yet another era in history that refers to the reign of James VI of Scotland (1567-1625). . The Elizabethan era is replaced by the Jacobean era. This era refers to the architecture, art and literature of this period. There was a practical unification of England and Scotland under his rule, which proved very important to the development and progress of both nations. In the field of literature...... middle of paper ...... Jonson was always difficult and somewhat arrogant in his acting. He represented the raw reality of life and used bold language. Critics or contemporaries truly loved Jonson with all their hearts or despised and hated him. The playwrights of the Elizabethan and Jacobean era had the same themes in their writings, but their writing style and approaches were different, making them both unique in their own right. . Johnson used more direct and difficult terms and, on the other hand, Shakespeare was somewhat generous in his writings. However, the themes remain the same but the approaches are completely different. Both contemporaries were the best of their time and it must not be forgotten that Jonson himself praised Shakespeare for his work saying the most famous lines: "Shakespeare was not of an age, but forever.”.
