Essay / Triangle Community Foundation Mission Statement
The Triangle Community Foundation (TCF), which serves several counties in North Carolina, had reached a point where an internal review by senior management showed that the mission of the organization needed some realignment and focus in order to help them. achieve the organization's ultimate goal of maximizing charitable giving from all donors (Anderson, Dees, 2001). This monograph will provide a discussion of the differences between the new and previous mission statements. An attempt will also be made to make improvements to the mission statement, as well as a long-term goal for the change, with adjustments so that the changes are likely to succeed, and which stakeholders will resist the change and why . Both old and new mission statements meet the basic requirements of describing the fundamental purpose of the organization and explaining to the public why the organization exists. Prior to February 2000, the mission statement was brief and to the point, but left the reader with no reason to do business with the organization. But the post-February 2000 mission statement gained a little more substance and mentioned strategic philanthropy, which would interest more organizations eager to show communities, the public and potential clients how they contribute to well-being of their peers. Likewise, the mission statement mentions donors' learning about issues important to them and their satisfaction with their philanthropy as a service to the organization (Anderson, Dees, 2001). A mission statement is a combination of what the company does, and how and why it does it, expressed in a way that shows the values that are important to the organization (Ward, 2011). To improve the current mission statement...... middle of paper ...... organization to ensure that everyone is in agreement with the purpose and mission and that the mission statement does not is not just words that look good in print.
