    The Internship Experience: Healthcare in the Hills of Southern OhioHealthcare is like other avenues of business and life, it is in constant evolution. At the turn of the 19th century, diet and occupations were different from what they are today. Much like changes in diet and other professions, healthcare is no exception. We wouldn’t want that to be the case either. If the country continued to struggle with the same challenges of 1899, we would not have progressed as a medical society. As healthcare evolves, we all must change. Change in our methods, tactics, thinking and structure of the healthcare market. According to Merriam-Webster (2014), the maintenance and restoration of health through the prevention and treatment of disease, primarily by trained professionals, constitutes health care (Merriam-Webster, 2014). People's health and well-being have always been fascinating and always will be. My healthcare background is an environmental background with a father being a registered nurse and a mother in healthcare management. It was inevitable that the healthcare journey would begin to be instilled in me without my knowledge as a young child. Constant learning in health sciences and management has guided my career. Early on in college, the plot leads to compassion, igniting the fire of health care administration. This call was prompted by a wonderful woman, my mother, winner of the Office of Primary Health Care's National Redesign Award in Health Disparities. These traces follow its similar path with careful guidance, but not to be confused with an easy path. The WinMed Experience The collegiate path of Health Management Practicum BUHE 3890 led to Winton Hills Medical & Health Cent...... middle of paper .. .... and lower costs for Medicare at FQHCs. This event is taking place across the country in 500 FQHCs. These FQHCs receive financial support and technical assistance to achieve goals of improving care while reducing costs (Demonstration of Advanced Primary Care Practices in a Medicare Federally Qualified Health Center, 2012). WinMed Maintenance/Housekeeping A demonstration and rationale discussion completed the WinMed experience. Learn about emergency lighting, emergency lighting testing, fire extinguisher usage/deployment/charging monitoring, sprinkler systems with check valves, annual fire detector cleaning smoke, cleaning of general areas including bathrooms, waste collection and disposal, elimination of biohazards, sharp containers, standards. precautions and biohazard facility pickup opened my eyes wide to a whole new world.
