Poland is a country located in Central Europe. The official capital is Warsaw and the main language spoken is Polish, including Russian, German, Belarusian and Kashubian. Poland is known for being a strong and diverse country that fights for its independence, while remaining a strong nation that defends its right and existence. Also known for being a wonderful country with magnificent land, culture and history, Poland has a rich past and is certainly a country worth discovering. Poland began to form around 450 AD when four remaining Slavic tribes called Polanie, Wislanie, Pomorzanie and the Mazovians came together. Poland was made up of these tribes which had become the people. Notably, when Poland first became a state, it was in 966 AD. This was the time when the ruler Mieszko I accepted Christianity in the state, for himself and for his people. He married Dobrava of Bohemia and had helped the Polish country and power to develop. Throughout its history, Poland continued to grow and fight its wars. Becoming democratic, debating the monarchy, reunification, all this was part of Polish history. However, much of Poland's history consisted of the First and Second World Wars. At one point, Poland did not exist on the map in 1914. Poland experienced World War I, but quickly regained its independence. But it got worse. World War II began when Hitler's Nazi group invaded Poland, as well as the conflict between Joseph Stalin and the Soviet Union. Both groups wanted to destroy Poland, reduce it to rubble and take away everything it was known for. Poland had very few troops and when the Nazis and Soviets united, Poland didn't stand a chance. At one point, with the help of the Allies and the United States, Poland was "rebuilt...... middle of paper...... the whole thing bathed the land in light."
