    Social Welfare: America Needs a SolutionA single, divorced mother of two works a minimum wage job that doesn't pay the cost of her survival. Not only does this mother have to take care of herself, but she has children who need shelter, food and stability. To make this possible, you need help. Most people, mostly fathers, have too much pride to ask for help because of image. Receiving social assistance promotes an image of selfishness that one cannot give to oneself or one's family. But is the image more important than life itself? Children are dying of starvation or dehydration because their parents cannot afford decent meals or purified water. Children die of illness because their parents cannot afford housing that protects them from the cold. Some of these parents work forty hours a week or more for minimum wage and still cannot afford to live in good health. Some parents are unable to find a job due to lack of qualifications. The government provided resources to disadvantaged people; however, there are still issues to be resolved. Social assistance is not a discouragement, it is a helping hand. There is no reason why lives should be shortened due to the inability to access government assistance. Welfare benefits America as a whole because it serves as a crutch for financially disabled people and motivates them to work harder to achieve a better lifestyle. Social Security was created in 1935. Before that, the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression caused problems for families. service agencies find themselves overwhelmed by high unemployment rates and relief needs. “Between 1929 and 1932, about a third of the country's private agencies disappeared due to lack of paper resources… and to be better paid and autonomous, to have the freedom to be independent. Once having a job and a good education becomes a priority, one can eventually withdraw from government assistance because one has a solid foundation for living comfortably and happily. Then others can do the same thing. It's a cycle, more and more people go on government assistance, so why can't more and more people get out? The fact is, people can forgo financial aid…with the right resources provided. If there are no resources, people will not make the effort to get off welfare because they have nothing to do, which makes it easier for them to depend on the government. For some, welfare is a sign of weakness or idleness, but no one should do it. being denied the help they need. A life should not be cut short due to starvation, dehydration or disease that can be stopped with government help..
