    There are 3,679,200 minutes in seven years. This represents 365 weeks or 2,665 days. A myriad of things can happen during this time. An extraordinary musical comedy was produced at this time. It transformed the music community and changed lives. This musical is called Rent and it was written by an equally inspiring man named Johnathon Larson. Rent gained its success and ran for 12 years on Broadway thanks to Johnathon and his team. These people were all dedicated to creating a moving and inspiring musical for everyone. It only took 7 years (Lipsky).Johnathan Larson was born on February 4, 1960 in White Plains, New York. He was the second child of Allan and Nanette Larson. Growing up, he was surrounded by an appreciation for theater, as his parents loved taking him and his sister Julie to see shows all the time. He also took piano lessons in primary school, in which he excelled and was encouraged by his parents and teachers to pursue his gift. Over time, new talents emerged, such as singing, songwriting, and instrumental talents. The piano lessons paid off, and in high school he was known as "The Piano Man" (Asch). The piano, combined with his love of all things musical, persuaded Jon to enter the theater conservatory at Adelphi University. He was accepted in 1978, with a four-year scholarship, and in 1982 he graduated with honors. When finished, Jon was brimming with passion to change the world (Asch). The passion raging within him led him to move to New York in 1982 and he became a struggling artist. He was a waiter at the Moondance Diner on Sixth Avenue, went to acting auditions, performed in nightclubs and composed songs for some musicals.
