    1.1 Background of the OrganizationWal-Mart Stores, Inc. was founded by Sam Walton in 1962. The first Walmart store was opened in Rogers, Arkansas, United States (Walmart , 2013). Additionally, Wal-Mart is the second largest grocery retailer in the world. After the year 1991, Wal-Mart became an international company, it expanded its operations to 26 countries outside the United States (Walmart, 2013). Currently, Wal-Mart has over 800,000 subsidiaries and over 6,000 international stores (Walmart, 2013). Wal-Mart operates in Japan under the name SEIYU. SEIYU was founded in 1963 and is the largest supermarket chain in Japan (Walmart, 2013). Since 2002, Wal-Mart has continued to acquire the shares of SEIYU, making it a wholly owned subsidiary of Wal-Mart (Walmart, 2013). The nature of its business which includes retail supermarket chain, clothing and shelter provision (SEIYU, 2013). Although Wal-Mart's business is very successful in the United States and some European countries, it faces problems in Japan.
