Essay / Thus spoke Zarathustra - 1112
The prophet Zarathustra came down from the mountains after ten years of isolation. He came down to teach the masses about the superman and the belief system that came with him. Nietzsche, through Zarathustra, proposes a new system of values to replace Christianity. This value system can be called “Zarathustraism”. An essential element of adopting this value system is the deconstruction of Christianity. Man redefined Christianity to better suit his personal desires, and as a result, it began to fail. Zarathustraism will teach man to live in the light of the Superman, free from the negativity caused by Christianity. Zarathustra learned the nature of God. In the time he spent in solitude, the prophet acquired the knowledge that "God is dead" (Z Pro. 2), a controversial idea for the time. Humanity killed God because its love of science and research made theism inconsequential. “You big star!” What would be your happiness if you did not have those for whom you shine? (Z Pro. 1) Zarathustra speaks while watching the sun rise. This alludes to the reason why God succumbed. Those who believed in God gave him life, and those who did not contributed to his death. One thing that is clear from Zarathustra's beliefs is his desire to have only one virtue. “I like someone who does not desire too many virtues. One virtue is more of a virtue than two, because it is rather a knot to which destiny clings” (Z Pro. 4). Christianity is filled with many testaments that hold believers back, but this belief system involves an elastic moral code that will not grow old. The many laws of Christianity have been interpreted differently for over two thousand years. A self-defined virtue will only ever be interpreted by the one who ...... middle of paper ...... but eventually they will be able to get to that point. Zarathustra will gain the respect of Man and abandon his role as leader. Zarathustra is Nietzsche's way of offering humanity relief from Christianity. Nothing has caused more deaths in human history than religion. Replacing religion with Zarathustism would lead people to improve themselves for the sake of self-improvement. Christianity has mortals who live for an immortal life, and Zarathustraism has immortals (as part of eternal recurrence) who live for the present. A widespread, unified belief system focused on improving the mind would shape the world in more positive ways. Zarathusianism has the potential to unite the world under a single belief system, while having the elasticity to preserve cultural differences in a way that Christianity has been unable to do..
