The role of the certified nurse anesthetist is an integral part of a patient's healthcare experience. While shadowing a CRNA, I learned a lot about the perioperative care required for a patient's procedure to ensure a smooth transition between medical procedures. Critical thinking, communication skills, and dedication to lifelong learning are among the few qualities required to succeed as a CRNA. The CRNA role is deeply rooted in nursing practice and focuses on patient care as they work under the supervision of a physician. The primary focus of the role of a nurse anesthetist is patient care and comfort and pain relief.
