Essay / Interview with Human Resources Manager - 1933
How a company manages its assets and resources depends on its overall success. Companies that spend their financial resources recklessly risk ending up in bankruptcy. Companies that use equipment resources beyond the capabilities of the machine or for purposes other than those intended are likely to experience downtime and/or lose the equipment due to breakdown. The same principle applies to a company's human capital. However, unlike other business assets, which depreciate over time, human assets appreciate over time when managed properly. The article, Importance of Investment in Human Resources for Organizations and the Economy: A Critical Analysis, explains the importance of human asset management as follows: Other resources of organizations can be hired, retained and removed at any time, but human resources require special treatment. He must be hired carefully, deserves extra effort to retain him and requires training and development to upgrade and improve his abilities. Other resources depreciate over time, but when the human resource gains more and more experience, it becomes more beneficial to organizations. These characteristics have led to human resources becoming the central element of an organization's success. (Mohammed, Bhatti, Jariko, and Zehri, 2013, p. 129, paragraph 2) In order to gain a practical understanding of the human resources field, I chose to interview the human resources director of an organization at Miami, Florida. . What I learned goes far beyond any classroom or textbook instruction. It's clear; the field of human resources will never be static, as society, technology and legal environments change, so will the field of human resources. I recently had the opportunity...... middle of paper ...... that's quite an interesting statement for me, because I've never considered myself a bad listener. This interview process gave me a lot of insight into the human resources field and gave me one more item to add to my to-do list…become a better listener.Works CitedDrug & Alcohol Rehab of Miami ( 2013).
