Essay / Brazilian National Films: City of God - 965
If you run, it's the responsibility; if you stay, the responsibility awaits you. City of God is one of the greatest Brazilian national films of all time. This film is an incredible work of art. Much of the success was seen in terms of storytelling, genre and values. However, the genre hallmarks could possibly be the themes of the film and the characters' fears and concerns are very specific to their settings. The film achieved its goal in showing the poverty of the slums of Rio de Janeiro and the madness that accompanies it. One thing the film relied heavily on was the complex narrative structure and artificiality of cinematic techniques. The way society has responded in this industrialized world has raised concerns about whether the poverty and destruction of the undeveloped world can be used as an imaginative product. This article continues the examination of urban slums and the physical environment, urban crime with youth gangs, and the importance of education. A source of culture implies the meaning of a group of people who collaborate towards the same goal. In the film, the audience sees an extraordinary interpretation of the people. The poor people of Rio have become the most popular part of the entire Brazilian nation. It is one of the largest cities on the planet and is considered one of the most famous regions, but not in a good way. In the film, world affairs were covered throughout the film. The concept of power and fits into their own lives and is not relevant in this case. The people who give the true meaning of culture seem excluded from the judging process. When the film opens, the use of flash shots that begin with the slaughter of a chicken, ripping out its feathers, shows that people are normally shooting... middle of paper ... film which people are not used to. Although it has attracted relevant criticism, it is a work of art relevant to what many societies are facing in the modern world. The themes, education and violence throughout the film were depicted accurately. Gang violence is increasing day by day, but no one in our society realized how dangerous certain parts of the world could be until the movie was released. Rocket is a character who gives hope to the slums. His environment and education were filled with nothing and he ended up succeeding despite everything. This film gives society an opening that even with the devastating gang tragedies we face every day, there are people who still do the right thing. He didn't have to join a gang to fit in or make a living financially. He just had one hobby, and that was photography. Works Cited Readings for Weeks 12 and 13: Street Children
