  • Essay / The Assassination of John F. Kennedy - 1037

November 22, 1963 is a day that some Americans will remember and others will not. That Friday, at 12:30 p.m., the President of the United States was shot and killed in Dealey Plaza, Texas. There are many theories about how the president was killed and how many shooters there were. However, we arrested a suspect named Lee Oswald, a former US Navy sniper, who hated Kennedy's views. He fled the scene and shot a police officer with his revolver. Many people are entitled to blame Oswald but in my mind there were two shooters. In this essay I will explain why I believe this and help support my theory. To explain how Kennedy was shot, we need to do some brief medical background. Kennedy had back pain, which made it difficult for him to sit up straight without feeling pain. So, according to my theory, Kennedy must have been sitting slightly forward to relieve his back pain while sitting in the open limousine. Second, Governor Connally sat to Kennedy's left and was approximately three to four inches lower than Kennedy. This would provide a perfect angle for Oswald to photograph Kennedy and Connally together in one shot. Next, let's take a look at Oswald. Oswald was a mysterious man. He went to live in Russia because he didn't like American views, although he would later join the Marines at a young age. When he returned to the United States, he brought back his wife named Marina. The start of their relationship was rocky and not as smooth as you might think. They argued but eventually they worked things out and things were peaceful (Archives). However, during the last week before the assassination, he did not spend any time with her. He lived in a boarding house with a roommate and they both went to work together. This is strange because a wo...... middle of paper...... ooters because it would have been difficult for Oswald to land the headshot. I believe all the other shots that hit Kennedy and Connally, but I have a hard time believing Oswald's headshot. This would have been just too hard for Oswald because he was right-handed and would have had to lean quite far out the window to shoot. I believe Jack shot Oswald so he wouldn't snitch and did it so the police wouldn't be as suspicious. Finally, there are many theories, some are hard to believe and others are easily explainable. Maybe in 2017, when the government releases the documents, we'll really know how Kennedy died. A&E Networks Television, nd Web, April 26.. 2014.
