Essay / The Role of Women in World War II - 605
The role of women in World War II was a vital behind-the-scenes effort. Just as a cameraman is essential to the making of a film, the role played by women during the war was essential to the victory of our allies. During the war, women provided food, clothing, funds, medical care, security, knowledge, and a safe and secure country to return to at the end of the war effort. All the help provided by women has helped prove that gender equality can work in society and has helped advance women's rights in our country. One of the most important roles for women during World War II was working in war factories. these were regular factories that had been converted to help with the war effort. For example, instead of making cars, they would make tanks, or instead of clothes, the factory would make uniforms. Before the war started, these factories were usually staffed by men, but today most men are drafted into the military, leaving tons of jobs available in the factories. Women jumped at the opportunity to fill these positions, earn some spending money, and support their families, their countries, and the feminist rights movement. During the war effort, Canada ended up producing eleven billion dollars in munitions, two million tons of explosives and even uranium for the Manhattan Project, none of which could have been completed without women and without the work of the women's rights movement would never have had the spark. It had to start. During the war, women also helped in the hospital. Usually called military nurses, these women earned one hundred and fifty dollars a month. they were the spirit of the hospital, women took care of the wounded, administered medicines, assisted doctors and much more in war hospitals, helping and saving thousands of people.
