Essay / How important is God in disciplining children?
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them carefully to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (ESV-Bible, 2001)It is impressive that when God gives his laws, they are also addressed to the family, so it is necessary to understand that these laws came directly from the mouth of God, and that they are still in force to this day. There is no excuse for refuting these divine truths, and it is unfortunate that there are many families who do absolutely nothing, even when they know it because they do not practice them in their family. This results in what is taught to many as a superficial form of discipline, not the discipline God wants in the family. The Church must assume its rightful role in the community and in society. It is sad to see how the Church has also abandoned its role as a role model for society, because it has become more interested in other things like constructing multi-million dollar buildings, implementing programs that have absolutely nothing to do with the help they can provide to families who need help and support. The fire of spiritual concern regarding the condition of the family must be rekindled, knowing the priorities that need to be attended to, for if this is not done, they will once again find themselves in the position of doing the same thing again and again; and never do something innovative that can undoubtedly be the answer to the problems existing in many families today.Contemporary English Version Bible, American Bible Society, 2000
