Essay / History of the Chicago Bulls - 2189
The Chicago Bulls, they have gone through many stages of success, including six championships with Michael Jordan's Bulls. Michael Jordan is actually the reason most people know about the Bulls. The Bulls are deeper than Michael Jordan though, because before Jordan joined the Bulls, the Bulls had to come to the NBA. The Chicago Bulls are one of the most memorable and historic professional basketball teams in history. The Bulls joined the National Basketball Association in 1965. Before that, the Bulls were known as the Chicago Stags, the Stags were one of the top teams in the Business Basketball Association since 1946 and even played a season in the NBA before to fold and start again as today's Chicago Bulls. It didn't take long for the Bulls to catch up with Chicago fans, who were already big fans of the Stags. The entire basketball nation was excited to see how the Bulls would begin their first season in the league. For some, the results were a bit disappointing. To begin their first season in the NBA, the Bulls were led by head coach Jonny “RED” Kerr, a former star of the league. On October 15, 1966, the Chicago Bulls introduced a starting lineup of Len Chappell, Bob Boozer, Don Kojis, Jerry Sloan and Guy Rodgers to face the St. Louis Hawks. Guy Rogers became a hero when he scored thirty-seven points to help seal Chicago's first-ever NBA victory. The Bulls won their three straight games and finished their first NBA season with a 33-48 record. Turns out this is the best record a new team has ever achieved (Chicago history). That 33-48 record was enough to push the Bulls into the playoffs where they were eliminated by the Hawks...... middle of paper ...... years. They were home to the best basketball player of all time and most importantly redefined winning.
