  • Essay / Analysis of Underground Dads by Will Haygood - 1796

When reading the article “Underground Dads” by Will Haygood, I saw that not everyone has it like me. I grew up with both parents and had everything I wanted. There are two people I really admire in my life, those people would be my mother and my sister. The reason is that they both showed me how to be an independent woman. I am so grateful to have them in my life and through them teaching me the path of life, helping me become the person I am today. I'm going to start by talking about my amazing mother and how she helps me in the long run. My mother taught me to never rely on anyone to be able to do whatever I decide. She also told me that life is full of mistakes and that I will always learn from them. She taught me how to cook. The person I am today thinks of my mother and my sister because they taught me how to be a good woman. I stay classy, never trashy. I am a respectful and kind girl. I get along with everyone, unless you're on my bad side. I hate drama, so don't ever bring that to me. I'm really the cool type, I like to have fun and travel the world. There are many things I want to accomplish in life. I want to become a radiologist, it's going to take a long time to become one, but I'm going to do whatever it takes. I also want to open a homeless shelter once I'm older and start making a lot of money. I feel bad for those who don't have a place to live. I see so many when I lived in Atlanta and I just want to make a change for them in their lives. One thing I'm trying to accomplish this year is get straight A's and a 4.0 GPA. Once I have accomplished this, I plan to transfer to Florida State University and complete my degree there. It’s up to me to do whatever it takes to achieve the goals I set for myself. I have changed a lot, I was lazy and didn't want to do anything and I saw school as a place just to get out of the house but I have seen now that school is much more than that. Without my education, I won't do anything unless I see myself working in a fast food restaurant for the rest of my life. And I don't see my future doing that. School is my main focus, I've had to change the way I look at things and I'm sure I'll do well in college as long as I push myself. Whenever I become that radiologist, I'm sure they will be proud of me. I am once again grateful that they talk to me and help me whenever I need it and if I ever need to tell them or ask them something, they are there. I love them for everything, even when I almost dropped out in high school, they were there to tell me that I could do it, do my best and that I would overcome anything. I have many goals I want to achieve this year including learning a better study habit, not being so shy, always having a smile even if I'm not having a good day because you never know someone 'someone else could do it. not having a good day and seeing you smile it could brighten their day, be active on campus, enjoy the clubs, the most important thing would be to get scholarships. I know that if I am determined to achieve these goals, I can achieve them all. As the year progresses, I am sure my goals will also be set. I can say that I am a strong, independent girl who stands up for herself and never lets anyone crush me. I may seem like a mean person, but I'm far from it, unless you
