Essay / Cyrano De Bergerac by Edmond Rostand - 1204
A famous man named Kahlil Gibran once said: “Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. It turns out that Cyrano's heart shone brighter than anyone I've ever known. Despite the insecurities and heartbreaks, Cyrano will never forget his pride or the feelings of his friends. He never lost his honor and always made light of any situation, even when he was close to his death. Cyrano displayed many positive traits and values such as loyalty, dedication, selflessness, knowledge and pride which all contributed to our sympathy towards him. One of Cyrano's most important traits as a friend was his loyalty. He always looked for his friends in times of need, which made the audience sympathetic towards him. Because Cyrano is a very loyal friend, the audience feels angry at Roxane for manipulating him and taking advantage of his loyalty. An example of Cyrano's loyalty was when Ragueneau's wife was having an affair with a musketeer, Cyrano confronted her: "Make sure you do it./I love your husband, and I don't intend/Him see mocking./Is that clear? » (II.iv.115-118). He defended his dear friend and didn't want to be made fun of. I think this is important because it shows that he is not only loyal to his friend, but also caring and has strong moral principles. What Lise was doing was wrong, and the author inserted this part to emphasize the reader's sympathy for Cyrano. Later, when Ragueneau's wife left him, Cyrano did not hesitate to support Ragueneau by dissuading him from committing suicide and providing him with suitable work. Furthermore, as everyone must know, Cyrano was in love with Roxane. But because he was such a trustworthy friend, he agreed to protect Christian... middle of paper... ick, because it's better to be sad to miss home than to be hungry . Loyal, dedicated, selfless, proud and competent. These are just a few of the many traits that we will sincerely miss. The life story of Cyrano de Bergerac perfectly highlighted that a positive soul is worth more than a beautiful face. There are currently many media outlets that emphasize the importance of the perfect look and face. They create products to change your face and your weight and people start to forget what's really important. We see beyond loyalty, dedication, selflessness and go no further than each person's skin. However, Cyrano saw the good in everyone and he taught people, in love or not, what is important in a relationship.Works CitedRostand, Edmond. Cyrano De Bergerac. New York: Harper & Bros., 1936.
