Essay / In My Darkest Hour - 833
In My Darkest HourJon was sitting on his phone, trying to reach Brianna via FaceTime, but she wouldn't answer. It was Angel's birthday, so he expected her to at least let him be there for his seventh birthday. “One last time,” he said to himself after probably the hundredth time. Finally, someone picked up, and it wasn't Brianna. instead, it was Angel. “Happy birthday, darling,” he said with a smile. Angel smiled back then called Brianna on her phone. “I’m talking to Dad,” she said, hoping they would get back together. Instead, her mother stared blankly at the television screen in front of her. She turned her attention back to Jon and frowned. "Mom is throwing a party for me, and it starts later today. Only a few people will be there, but I don't care." Jon nodded and opened his mouth to speak, but quickly closed it when he realized that was the case. that wouldn't be a good idea. Then again, he had nothing to lose. “Can...Can I talk to your mother?” She nodded before placing the phone in Brianna's hand and sitting down next to her. Brianna didn't say anything; all she did was stare at him on the phone, wishing he was dead. It was obvious that she was going to say anything, so he took the initiative to speak first. “How do you feel?” Nothing. “Anything new?” Nothing. “Did you…” Before he could say anything else, Brianna cut him off, tired of hearing him. "Jon, I don't want to talk to you, and I don't think I ever will. You tricked me because you thought I was doing the same thing while I was in a mental hospital. How could- Can I forgive you? She looked at the phone, tears falling from her eyes as the memory came back "Just say goodbye to Angel, I don't want to hear your voice anymore," she said bitterly before....... middle of paper ... her face She wasn't finished, but Luke held her back before she caused any serious damage "You never say that, especially around my daughter. Do you have any idea how hard I worked to try to change my life?" "Are you going back? Painkillers and heroin say otherwise." She looked down at Ariel, who had a worried expression. "Your playtime will have to be cut short, darling. I don't want you to be around these people anymore." With that, she left the house with Ariel. Angel was visibly upset and Brianna started to feel a little guilty. "More people will come, don't worry," She said, patting him on the shoulder. She turned her attention back to Luke and frowned. “If anyone else wants to supervise and they look like her, I want you to just let me greet them and then. force me into my room," she ordered, allowing Luke to see how angry she was..
