What is the difference between juvenile diversion and probation? Juvenile diversion involves treating a minor without going to court. It is referred to the common board like the juvenile court, or if there is a legal insufficiency, they will reject it. Diversion can have a number of essential and imperative designs. This may benefit low-responsibility juveniles, who are less likely to make poor decisions and avoid the stress that can result in delinquency in the determination process. Diversion has provided great convenience for public collaborators and victims to play an effective role in the management of low-responsibility juvenile offenders. The development of diversion may weaken the accountability of the courts, which, on the other hand, would seem impractical for them to adjudicate every offender referred to them. Diversion is also inexpensive, as it would be possible to act quickly against opposing actions. Diversion also helps the process to reduce probation cases; furthermore, it allows appropriate capacities of valuable but unlimited staff time to deal with a greater number of serious offenders. Probation is generally for offenders who need to be rehabilitated under strict supervision but who do not need to be incarcerated. Probation has optional judge-ordered sentencing provisions that would also allow for transitional housing arrangements and other programs such as conversion programs. Although diversion programs avoid detention and conviction, probation punishes if a person is convicted of an offense and could potentially be incarcerated if the offender violates the terms of the probation process (State of Alaska, 2012) .
