Essay / A comparison of the characters of Macbeth and Prospero from...
These two Shakespearean characters, Macbeth and Prospero, from Macbeth and The Tempest can greatly compare. From the start, these two men are difficult to understand and seem like an average warrior and ruler. These two characters face a struggle for power; however, they both approach this question in different and interesting ways, with different results. At the end of these two plays, we meet two characters completely different from those we were introduced to from the beginning. In Shakespeare's Macbeth and The Tempest, Macbeth and Prospero, the two main characters have a lot in common and can be compared very well. Macbeth, the main character in William Shakespeare's play Macbeth, is difficult to understand throughout the play; as well as Prospero in Shakespeare's play, The Tempest. From the beginning, it is difficult to understand these characters and what they are like. For example, when you first meet Macbeth, he presents himself as a brave, heroic and oh-so-capable warrior, but when we witness his interaction with the three witches, we realize that he is hiding a whole other side of himself . “I have no goad to prick the sides of my intention, but only a leaping ambition which overtakes itself and falls upon the other.” (Act 1, scene 7) Macbeth struggles with all-consuming ambition and a sense of self-doubt. Jamieson states: “Our perception of Macbeth as a brave soldier is eroded when we see how easily he is manipulated by Lady Macbeth. » Just like Macbeth, we realize that the character of Prospero is not what he seems. Prospero is a sympathetic character who was wronged by his brother. However, when we first meet Prospero, he comes across as a self-centered and ruthless man, which makes him difficult to like. ...... middle of paper ...... presented from the beginning.
