Research ReportTigersTigers are powerful and adaptable animals. To some, they are considered a deity. Cubs quickly learn to become good hunters in order to survive. Despite their best efforts, they are in danger of extinction. Since ancient times, the tiger has been revered as a deity in Asian legends and myths. His name is synonymous with valor and power. Myths about tigers have developed in art and folklore. As a result, tiger body parts came to be seen as universal cures among Eastern healers. In Korea, the tiger is deified as the spirit of the mountain and king of beasts. In Java and Bali, ancient kings were believed to take the form of tigers and live in sacred caves (Ullas Karanth). Tigers are huge and powerful creatures. It's the biggest cat in the world. They use their bone-crushing teeth to kill animals twice their size, such as buffalo. They typically weigh between 200 and 700 pounds. They can survive in many different climates, from tropical rainforests to the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. They are warm-blooded mammals covered in fur. They also have vertebrae, which means they have a backbone. They have extremely powerful legs that help them run up to 35 mph, but only for short periods of time. They also help them jump up to 15 feet. and up to 32 feet. Their paws are padded so they can move quietly through the jungle. Each paw has long, sharp claws about 4 inches long and are retractable when not in use. Unlike other cats, tigers love to swim and use their large paws to move through the water. Tigers need to eat a lot to survive; it is not uncommon for them to eat over a hundred pounds a week. The gestation period of the Siberian tiger is between three and three and a half months and the litter usually consists of two to six cubs. They can give birth once every two years, at any time of the year. The mother tiger cannot sufficiently feed all her cubs, so some of them may die. There are only 400 to 500 left in the world, so they are considered endangered, due to illegal poaching and habitat loss. They have a breeding program to try to increase the population so they don't go extinct. Tigers are capable, powerful creatures that are revered by many societies. Cubs learn quickly to survive. Like other tigers, Siberian tigers are skilled hunters. Although there are many different species, they remain endangered.
