    From Prairie Living to Prairie Style Home Design When people think of prairie style, they associate it with Frank Lloyd Wright. But why? Frank Lloyd Wright was a famous 19th and 20th century architect who shaped the style of homes as we know them today. Even though he grew up in a small town, that didn't stop him from being successful. Frank Lloyd Wright is and will continue to be the world's best architect because from his childhood to his travels around the world, he found inspiration in the nature around him. Growing up, Frank Lloyd Wright was very easily inspired. He was born June 8, 1867 in Richland Center, Wisconsin, to the proud parents of Anna Lloyd Jones and William Carey Wright. His official birth name was Frank Lincoln Wright, but he changed it later in life. His family were Welsh and had traveled in the hope of a better life. Because his mother was a teacher and his father a pastor, they traveled a lot. His father worked in Rhode Island, Iowa, and Massachusetts (Rubin, 1994). By 1878 they had settled in Madison, Wisconsin. From the moment Frank Lloyd Wright was born, his mother gave him the basics, hoping that this would allow him to acquire an initial training in architecture. As a teenager, Frank Lloyd Wright did not fit the image of a young adult that his parents gave him. He was sent to live on his uncle's farm, in search of better manners. When he arrived, he wasn't very happy to be there, but he quickly realized that it was a perfect opportunity for him. Once his morning chores were completed, he would find an old sketchbook and lie down in an open field. Frank drew every wildflower he saw until dinner was ready.
