Essay / Eternity Employee Nominations - 1381
Brigid O'Shaughnessy, Phyllis Nordlinger, Walter Huff and Helen Grayle are my top nominees for Eternity Employee, they will be a wonderful asset to Hell, Inc . and its mission. They are all similar in that they have committed murder, a large part of their cause is money or getting what they want, and then they have to cover up what they are doing. 'they did. With women, their similarities lie in their immaculate abilities to seduce, manipulate and lie, to use their bodies and appearance to get men to kill for them or to protect them from the law. With Walter, her difference is pure remorse and you won't see that with any of the candidates, they really never felt bad about having murdered someone. The final difference between my nominees is Phyllis who is not necessarily evil, but completely psychotic believing she is Death and that is the only one she has ever loved, she is the only choice who desires and takes all his pleasure in causing death. I will look in more detail at each choice and their personal sins as well as the details that might qualify them. The Maltese Falcon's Brigid O'Shaughnessy is a top choice for number one contender with her seductive and kinky ways. Her character is deceptive as she presents herself as sweet and innocent for as long as she can, but this is far from true. First, she seduces Floyd Thursby into adding him as a partner in tracking down the falcon, ultimately getting him killed. Then she caps this off by shooting Miles Archer, using Thursby's gun, and placing the blame on him. Unfortunately, Sam Spade falls into his trap and is used as his personal bodyguard and source of information regarding the falcon. Moving from Spade to the captain of the ship, with whom she had previously seduced and hidden the falcon, which is shown...... middle of paper ......, Helen Grayle is my favorite and I think she would bring so much demonic presence to Hell, Inc. that it hasn't murdered any children. So I have to award the position to Phyllis Nordlinger. The choice was not easy but Phyllis devotes herself to death and the values of evil. I can happily say that she qualifies for every aspect of Hell, Inc., plus adds the perfect psychopathic essence. Works Cited Cain, James M. Double Indemnity. New York: Vintage Books, 1936. Print.
