Many people can now make instant payments for items purchased online from the comfort of their living room or office. It is also now possible for millions of people around the world to work online and receive payments through e-commerce. E-commerce was not so well known in recent years. However, the growth of technology has revolutionized it in modern times. The advent of the World Wide Web (WWW) in the early 1990s was a major driver of advances in e-commerce. Governments and the private sector are investing in e-commerce as one of the ways to survive competition and increase economic growth.
