Essay / Leadership Practices in the Post-Bureaucratic Era
In this essay, I will argue that leadership practices impact sustainable development in the post-bureaucratic era. The World Commission on Economic Development (WCED) defines sustainable development as development that meets present and future needs (Bansal 2005). Business is seen as an aspect of society as a whole (Evans 1992) and it can be seen that society is more concerned with ethics, laws and regulations. A more sustainable management style is therefore widely applied in the post-bureaucratic era. In the first section, I draw on Cameron and Caza (2004), Mackey (2011), Bansal (2005), and Driscoll and Starik (2004) to present ideas on the contribution of different types of organizational policies to environmental sustainability . tendency to adopt the concept of sustainability, organizations also face challenges in its implementation. Thus, in the second section, I would explore the difficulties faced by companies in implementing sustainable business policies and criticisms of the practices, drawing on Fernando, Dharmage and Almeida (2008). , Wray-Bliss (2007), Bansal (2002) and others. There are a few commonly discussed leadership practices in the post-bureaucratic era, such as authentic leadership, stakeholder theory, and corporate social responsibility.
