African American Soldiers in the Civil WarAfrican Americans helped shape the Civil War from a variety of perspectives. In fact, if you think about it in depth, they were the foundation of the war. African Americans were slaves and treated like property since their arrival in America. The likelihood of opportunity for these slaves created enormous turmoil in the South. The issue of equal rights for African Americans created a divide between the states. The Civil War in the United States began as an attempt to save the Union and ended with a fight for the abolition of slavery. The Civil War, often known as the War Between the States of the United States, was a civil war that took place from 1861 to 1865, after seven southern slave states proclaimed their separation and bordered the Confederate States of UNITED STATES. More Americans died in the Civil War than in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War combined. Two-thirds of those killed during the civil war died of disease. During the Civil War era, advanced medicine and disinfectants did not exist and could have greatly reduced the spread of disease. After years of bloody fighting that left more than 600,000 dead and destroyed much of the South's infrastructure, the Confederacy collapsed, slavery was abolished, and the difficult process of reconstruction aimed at restoring national unity and to guarantee the rights of freed slaves began. By December 1865, the 13th Amendment had abolished slavery across the United States (Waldstreicher). As an abolitionist and former slave, Frederick Douglass understood that the path to opportunity and full citizenship for African American men was very straight. ......fortune. There are endless statues, celebrations, books and archives. The war cost a lot of money, but the benefits will be eternal. We lost a tremendous number of bold individuals that day fighting for equality. The people who fought in the Civil War will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated. African Americans benefited in many ways from their courageous actions. They opened the door for many African Americans to speak out and mobilize. Without those courageous African American soldiers risking their lives for freedom, who knows if the Union would still have been able to secure the rights of freed slaves. Without their courage, the United States would be in an entirely different situation than it is today. Slaves and those who fought in the Civil War will always be appreciated and praised.
