Electric Vehicles: Current Uses: Currently, electric vehicles are slowing down and becoming popular, with some already in showrooms. Additionally, many enthusiasts and groups have really encouraged their use. However, these cars do not share the same performance qualities as some gasoline cars; current technology is quickly catching up. Hybrid vehicles offer, in some ways, the best of both worlds. The cars are environmentally friendly while offering the power and range capabilities of other cars on the market. Additionally, there are many ways to provide electricity to cars, including home rechargeable batteries and hydrogen. Electric vehicles are a definite possibility for the future because they emit the lowest emissions while driving. Groups like E-Vermont are independent interest groups that have come together to try to use this technology and increase understanding of it. These interest groups are becoming very popular and many of them have found ways to turn normal automobiles into electric vehicles. Additionally, groups like this come together and compete in a race to showcase alternative fuel technologies that exist in the world today. The best known of these races is the Tour-De-Sol. This competition and festival highlights all means of transport that promise lower gas or oil consumption. This event helps showcase the progress made in electric vehicle technology. Many people involved in this project use electric vehicles in one form or another. Some of them use a hybrid form while others stick strictly to a battery-charged electric vehicle. Most people don't know this, but electric vehicles are available for people to use. They haven't yet replaced the internal combustion engine as the vehicle of choice for most, but electric power definitely has a place in the world.
