Essay / Innocence in a Doll's House - 1060
On page 432, after Mrs. Linde asks if Nora will ever tell Torvald about the advance, Nora replies "Yes, at some point maybe , after many years, when I am I no longer look as pleasant as I do now, try not to laugh at me, that is, obviously, when Torvald is no longer to me. as given as it is now, when my movements, my embellishment and my stories have faded it then it might be something to be grateful for having something available for later…” This demonstrates; clearly that Nora knows that Torvald considers her a simple trophy, a toy, a doll, with the end goal of simply seducing him. He does not consider Nora his mate, and she knows it. 'to have something for possible later use..' shows that when she is no longer attractive, she will have some sort of hold over Torvald anyway, further delineating his delicate and devious character.
