For industries like these, organizational success is directly linked to the ability to adapt functions to the requirements of the ERP system. However, in global organizations that serve the ultimate consumer/customer, depending on portfolio differences, unique data, such as customer database, may be stored locally. Rather than organizations providing intermediate goods, organizations that serve different and demographically diverse customers around the world may choose to retain variability in their ERP systems. (As described in the comparison between HP and Monsanto) In accordance with the variability, organizations should decide the degree of local autonomy of the ERP system. Additionally, some companies may choose to modify the system based on the unique needs of the organization, which will not be so inexpensive. If applicable; implementation, training and customization of ERP systems should be carried out under the direction of activity-based teams
