  • Essay / The Importance of Managing a Store - 772

His response was “Yeah, that's a tough question, there are many” (Christman), but he added “A workflow, a planning , proper quality control and fair prices. " (Christmas). Again, a killer answer to my question, but I think his answer was very vague. I think more should have been said about how someone would run a store and retain paying customers, such an important impact on running a store. My opinion on the matter, I would run my store in a strict but also relaxed way, that is, I would enforce the store rules, but in a friendly way, so that my employees enjoy their working environment, and don't feel stressed or overworked. I would like my technicians to keep in mind that they work for a company, so they need to be professional, but I don't want their work environment to be characterless. I want technicians to be able to enjoy their work and feel comfortable communicating their problems or concerns to management. To retain customers, I would offer some sort of reward to loyal customers, like giving them a free oil change or a state inspection or something. Additionally, I would promote our deals of the week or other promotions by sending emails to customers who signed up and continued to have their car serviced by our company. Overall, there's nothing easy about running a store and there are so many characters that come into play, but it's possible! Getting advice from managers and people already experienced in the field can get someone thinking about how to run their own store. After asking my managers these two questions, it gave me ideas. I plan to open my own store one day, and now that I have better outside opinions on management traits, running a store, and building customer loyalty, I'm just one step closer towards achieving my goal.
