Essay / The dream of the new America is green (and sustainable)
Smallville is a city like any other city in the world. There is crime, pollution and social inequalities. Yet, all over the world, citizens dream of the future. The reason people came to Smallville, or America, in the first place was to live the American dream. This idea is that if a person works hard enough, they can be or achieve anything they want. However, the current system of selfishness and ignorance of the masses has led to the destruction of this idea. For these dreams to survive, Smallville must promote change. More information is needed about the effects people have on their communities and the environment. We must move towards long-term sustainability. Before there can be greener technology, environmentally friendly businesses or sustainable energy, citizens must change their outlook on life. Each individual must become aware of their role in the community. There needs to be more emphasis on people living locally, eating local and working locally. The more localization and less globalization, the better. The more people use what is available to them, the more they will realize how important it is not to waste. For communities to live long, each individual must be respected. There must be social equality between men and women, between different ethnic groups and acceptance of the LBGTQ community. Once this goal is achieved, the new American dream will be born. This new idea will be about being everything you want to be while helping others achieve the same goal. Smallville needs to take steps toward a more informed and conscious society so that people can achieve their dreams without destroying the dreams of others in the world. For Smallville to return middle of paper..... .rt. “Accepting Gay: Rental Accommodation in the Community.” Journal of Homosexuality 36.2 (1998): 31. Academic Research Premier. EBSCO. Internet. March 25, 2014. Page explains the difficulties that an LBGTQ citizen must overcome to find a place to live freely in a community. This shows that it takes great acceptance of the couple, or even of homosexual individuals, by the community for the person to feel welcome. People generally don't like to live where they don't feel welcome. This will help me show where a major change needs to be in the social area of society. If people cannot accept each other, they cannot form a community and possibly solve other problems that require cooperation. The only bias in this article is justified because it shows real stories of people being harassed. This gives no merit to those who claim that these people are actually the problem..
