Women have often been seen as those who use their words to fight and are quick to hold grudges against others, but this is not true if l We look at friendship between women. The women hold their friendships close to their hearts and go through the best and worst of times together. It could also be the concept of how women must stick together to survive. The bond between women is something that cannot be broken by any means and will last a lifetime, this is due to the strong reliance on the emotional bonds they share. Desdemona and Emilia in William Shakespeare's Othello, the Moor of Venice show this connection between women through Shakespeare's use of foreshadowing. As Desdemona begins to realize her fate, she tells her dear friend Emilia, “Lay my wedding sheets on my bed” (4.3.108-110). Desdemona had begun to realize how upset Othello was, although she didn't know the reason why he was, she knew he would eventually kill her. So, as one of her last requests to her dear friend, she asks for her wedding sheets. Ultimately, this really foreshadows his death. Shortly after, Emelia, beginning to realize that something is seriously wrong with the whole situation, says: "I will be hanged if an eternal villain, a busy insinuating thug, a scheming and vapid slave to obtain a function, did not conceive this slander” (4.2.138-140). ). This shows how upset she is and foreshadows that once she realizes that it is her own husband Iago who is the bad guy, she is quick to betray him as her wife and leave him to the wolves . His first duty was to his lady and friend Desdemona who was killed for the horrible selfishness of the manipulator Iago.
