  • Essay / Josef Mengele Aka The Angel of Death - 1139

“The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe that we are doing it”, these are the words of one of the most famous people known for killing thousands of people during the Holocaust. This notorious figure is known as Dr. Josef Mengele, aka “The Angel of Death.” To better understand Dr. Josef Mengele, one must know the thoughts of others about him and what his practices were during the Holocaust. By doing this, we can better answer the real question; What made the “Angel of Death” torture so many innocent people? Many people thought he was nothing more than a monster, and to others he was just an ordinary character on the platform doing what his country asked him to do. Margaret Englander, an Auschwitz survivor, worked for Mengele as an employee witness to life-and-death selections for a year. “One day he took 4 children; he gave them candy and put them in his car. As he was driving, he stopped in the middle of the road and shot them all. Mengele then sterilized his daughter and chose her to die, just two days after being released. “I would hate to see him die. Certainly not. I would like to see it; he would have to suffer for the rest of his life. Yes, that's where I'd like to see it. He should be in life and he should be suffering and he should be hearing from the survivors about what he did to us. (CBS Network)Enrique Mueller was a close friend of Mengele after the Holocaust. Women: “What was he like as a person?” » Mueller: “Just like you and me. Everything he did then was his duty. Just like what the Americans are doing today, the same bloody experiments they were doing back then. Everyone here knows Mengele. Women: “Do you really think he did what people accused him of?” »Mueller: “Yes. And I would be... middle of paper ......o assassinate someone with a simple flick of the wrist ("Josef Mengele"). He was capable of holding the fate of thousands in the palm of his hands. The downside was that his success came at the expense of innocent people and it is for this reason that Dr. Josef Mengele will forever be known as the “Angel of Death.” CBS Network. CBS.
