One day at a TED conference, Patrick Awuah gave a speech on “How to Educate Leaders?” » this conference opened my mind to many questions regarding leadership. It revealed the blind spot of leadership that most leaders struggle to see or sometimes simply ignore for many unhelpful reasons. In this article, I will discuss the role of leaders as guardians of society, servants of society and all issues associated with the topic with pragmatic examples. “Every right implies a responsibility; Every opportunity, an obligation, Every possession, a duty.'John D. RockefellerIn this context, what John Rockefeller said is in consensus with what Patrick Awuah intended to communicate during his speech. When he gives the example of his friend who worked in a hospital and experienced power outages during surgeries; he blamed the power cuts on health sector leaders and the government because they fail to see their responsibilities. In my own words, what he meant was that with any small responsibility, there is a kind of subconscious expectation that one must know. Everyone can be a leader, but to be a great leader, you have a responsibility. “The price of greatness is responsibility. » Sir Winston Churchill Being a servant and a guardian are somehow concomitant. In the sense that being a servant requires being to some extent a guardian. When you are a child, your housekeeper serves as your guardian and servant and your parents are also your guardians and servants, giving you everything you want. Being the guardian of humanity as a leader involves protecting direction, goals, and followers.
