Essay / Implementation of Sex Education in Middle School and Elementary School
Sex education over the years has provided the necessary information on precautions, as well as the consequences of being sexually active. Additionally, it allows high school students to learn about an aspect of their lives that will always be an important factor in their romantic relationship. Every action and decision regarding any element of life will inevitably produce an outcome and response. The ignorance of many adolescents leads them to make stupid decisions that can change their future. I support the idea of implementing sex education in secondary and elementary schools. The next step will be to find a strategy to implement it in classrooms. Contraceptive methods are simply irrelevant, but today society has created so many tools to facilitate education that a program dedicated to this issue should not be a problem. High school sex education for public and private schools should be an extensive course that will teach the different aspects of sexuality in a person's life. This change could have a serious impact on teen pregnancy statistics, STD carriers, and the ability to make rational decisions about their sex lives. Ted Feinberg in the NBC News report said, "We need to explain why (the increase in STD statistics has been so high among those under 22) and help our children be more responsible." The desire to discover, explore and learn more about the sexual factors that trigger certain behaviors is quite common; however, protection should be part of this exploration process. Male and vaginal condoms, birth control pills, diaphragms and the rhythm method should be part of the education provided in schools. According to "DoSomething.org", 750,000 girls aged 15 to 19 become pregnant and eighty percent of them... middle of paper ...... are afraid of promiscuity. Again, religious individuals have not been given the tools to develop the type of skills necessary to be comfortable with their own sexuality. Expressing yourself is learning to know yourself. Additionally, this is where the key to innovation comes in to help solve the problem. Simply being willing to acknowledge the fact that sex education and communication helps younger generations make better decisions is a step toward progress. Consent is an important aspect of sexuality, adolescents and adults should give importance to the subject. Yes or no theory is not enough, a healthy relationship requires boundaries and girls need to be aware of what sexual harassment means. Teen violence is not uncommon; it is necessary to provide adolescents with the right information. Verbal abuse is included in adolescent violence and adolescents need to know that they can express themselves.
