Artists can meaningfully and powerfully connect with their audiences in many ways, but the most common way is by reflecting belonging, identity and culture within the work of art. Heritage and No Man's Land are two modern works of art that reflect the belonging, identity and culture of two artists, Cai Guo-Qiang and Christian Boltanski. These two particular works are both spectacular and thought-provoking, but they show very different relationships with the world. Earth and each other, visually they are quite extreme. Cai Guo-Qiang was born in 1957 in the city of Quanzhou, China and created Heritage in 2013. Born in 1944, Christian Boltanski is a French sculptor, painter and filmmaker. "No Man's Land" creation at Park Avenue Armory, New York in 2010. One of Boltanski's most famous creations called "No Man's Land" consists of 27,215.5 kilograms of discarded clothing, an 18 .30 meters high, 3,000 stacked boxes of biscuits and recorded sound. of the human heartbeat. There is considerable contrast in the artwork with different colors, shapes and materials, this symbolizes the diversity of the world's people. In comparison, Boltanski has a very realistic vision that shows an unpleasant side of the relationship between humans and the earth, but Quo-Qiang's work shows the beautiful and utopian side of his worldview. Both artists look at the universe and what is happening there. They both seem to want reconciliation in the world, in tolerance and trust. The natural world is beautiful, but humans have damaged it and this needs to be corrected and both artists believe this can be done. They both reflect their concern for humanity. Boltanski shows what humans have done to the world, but Quo-Qiang shows how he would like the world to be. These are two very different works of art that have been expressed in contrasting ways; however, both inspire a vision of the earth and human relationships.
