Thanks to work, she has money and she dresses well. His business is booming and everyone orders pants from him. This also shows this element of the pants. Her company's pants give Célie her own identity; now people see her as a master in something and not a housewife. This also shows Celie that she has an identity and that she doesn't have to live with men and do what they tell her. It also gives him financial freedom.
