Essay / The role of the assassination of Francis Ferdinand in...
The First World War was a reaction to the world experiencing many changes in such a short time. Major events have been attributed to World War I, such as German unification, imperialism and the creation of peacetime alliance systems, but the ultimate reason for the war was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand the June 28, 1914. According to notes taken on the Civil War, Franz Ferdinand was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne and he was killed by a Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip. After the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the feud between Siberia and Austria-Hungary spiraled out of control. The Austro-Hungarian people were angry with the Siberian people after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand. The only way for the world to survive was to end the war. The Treaty of Versailles of 1919 was signed, ending the war with Germany. Unfortunately, Germany was held morally and financially responsible for the war and had to pay France thirty-three billion dollars for the civilian casualties and damage it caused. World War I was an unnecessary war that could have been avoided with proper communication and negotiation techniques. Even though Germany was an ally of the Austro-Hungarian government, they should have known that this war was personal to them. Thousands of soldiers around the world lost their lives because a country wanted revenge for the death of its leader..
