It made the manufacture, sale and transportation of alcohol illegal throughout the country. A new breed of gangsters came to power during this time. Gangsters took advantage of the high demand for alcohol in society and became very powerful and wealthy. Due to the imbalance between supply and demand, gangsters were able to get rich very quickly and quickly take control of the entire city. Al Capone emerged at the top of Chicago, controlling every aspect of commerce in and out of that city. During those days, people were not able to find work and food to support their families, but Al Capone was able to provide these things for those who needed them in order to benefit his business system .
