    Generally, these goals can be categorized into two main areas, for the individual and for society. For the individual, the argument goes, the program helps develop individual advantages. This can be learned from my own experience, my teacher often said that we learn mathematics to promote logical thinking, science to improve the quality of life, computer science to learn basic skills that could be useful for our future , etc. After graduating and now becoming a teacher, I have come to realize that the knowledge and skills I have now are a result of the school curriculum and the experience I gain in my environment. However, some argue that if the fundamental goal of the program is truly the development of the individual, why should it involve testing? This issue has been raised for many years and has become a public issue due to the fact that academic assessment is so dominant and determines student achievement, which is probably happening in Indonesia.
