The film “The secret in their eyes”, directed by Juan José Campanella, captivates the audience with its complex plot of love and murder. Benjamin Espósito and Irene Menéndez are brought together by the haunting story of a young woman brutally raped and murdered: Liliana Coloto. Banjamin becomes completely fascinated by her case because he sees his own love for Irene reflected in it. Even though this film has a wide variety of symbols, three of them; the color red, the letter A and the eyes are able to capture its essence. Various meanings can be attributed to the color red, which faithfully reflect the mood of the film. Red signifies passion and desire. We find these allusions represented in different objects: the flower in Irene's office, the curtains in her office and the lamp in Benjamin's bedroom. In fact, most of Benjamin and Irene's scenes include the slight appearance of this color.
