Malmö, Sweden has become the hub of green living and innovation. It is Sweden's third largest city and commercial center and is continually redeveloping both environmentally and economically. The city itself has a variety of diverse ecosystems, such as coastal areas, grasslands, forests and wetlands. Such a variety of ecosystems allows Malmö to become more environmentally efficient. The Swedish government has been very proactive in creating new regulations and policies regarding sustainability. The Swedish national government's Ministry of Sustainable Development said: "We must pass on to the next generation a Sweden where environmental problems have been solved." The Swedish government and Malmö city officials have been very progressive and competent in achieving this goal. Currently, Sweden ranks among the top consumers of organic food while also consuming the majority of its energy from renewable sources and leading the way in recycling bottles and cans. As a leader of the green movement, the Swedish government has implemented disastrous technology strategies for the growth and development of environmental technology companies. Its objective is to stimulate research and technological innovation in order to create the essential conditions for the growth of green and environmentally friendly businesses while facilitating the commercialization of innovations.
