Essay / Analysis of Still Separate, Still Equal by Jonathan Kozol
Edmundson was considered one of the "interesting" teachers due to the fact that he told jokes in order to keep the students interested, since he was the only how he thought he would work; however, he did not “learn to amuse…or even to be merely interesting” (Edmundson, Greene-Lidinsky 390). Students can choose their teachers and they need to know if the teacher is right for them, otherwise they can simply drop the course and/or find a better suited teacher. Edmundson felt that "the student's passion seemed exhausted" and that "college culture" was increasingly "devoted to consumption and entertainment" (Edmundson, Greene-Lidinsky 391). Additionally, colleges make the situation even worse due to the fact that they beautify campuses in order to attract students to apply, so students attend these campuses imagining that the classes will be just as good.
